  Welcome

Once again we welcome all our new and old clients and especially those of you reading the Fairport News for the first time!

  Rogers Ramblings

The financial year brought mixed results with the
drought here and in South Africa and the downturn in
the wine industry taking its toll. We feel very sorry for
all those who have been so badly affected by these
conditions.
Busy as ever here in Perth with major projects under
way, as you will read… Enjoy the July 2007 newsletter.

STAFF MATTERS

We have a new staff member in the development team
Michael Beloshapkin who has taken over from Laurie
Smithdale who has left to dedicate his time to his own
website business. Due to the vast input and contribution
Laurie made over the years 1996 – 2007, he still remains
attached to Fairport in the capacity of consultant.

Michael joins us with a wealth of experience in business
and mapping software and GPS guidance systems. He
has developed software such as the following - VITO
SmartMap (one of the first mapping applications for
Pocket PC), VITO (GPS application for agricultural
chemical treatment), Pointer (the GSM/GPS system for
fleet control) and more. He is a director of the AeroGIS
company and developed all their aircraft guidance and
navigation software. Michael’s past includes obtaining a
PhD for his research project in map image ortho
rectification techniques.

He is currently finalising the John Deere interface and
will then be enhancing our range of mapping software
with the many suggestions that have come in over the
years.

At the end of this week we bid farewell to Gerard van
den Berg who joined us last August. Gerard has been
working exclusively on the total revamp of the PAM
IAR system. Gerard is moving on to new pastures and
we wish him well.

  PAM News

DPI Queensland go with PAM

After many years of the DPI Queensland using PAM
on most of their research stations they recently dicided
to standardize acrross all reseach stations with the PAM
software. This means all records will be maintaned in a
standard format allowing the consolidation af all their
data. They have replaced several packages that only did
“ part of the job” with PAM because they were ending up
with records in various formats “all over the place and it
was very difficult to do any comparative analysis”.
The second stage will be implementing the PAM
Enterprise solution across all the locations.

John Deere interface with PAM

John Deere and Fairport signed an agreement in
October 2005 to build an interface betweem the PAM
software and John Deere equipement. The development
of the interface has taken quite a long time and is now
well advanced.

The result of the interface will be to upload
information from PAM into the AMS Greenstar 2
display unit prior to work being carried out. Once the
work is completed data from the AMS Greenstar 2
display unit will be transferred back into PAM along
with the associated task records. PAM will become an
intergral part of operating the Greenstar 2 equipement
throughout the farming year.

The actual information transferred between the PAM
and Greenstar2 will be determined by the PAM modules
you own. The PAM Mapping will allow standard
records to be exchanged, whereas the Farmstar module
will allow VRT and harvest yield data to be exchanged
as well. The John Deere – FarmStar interface will also
cater for older model JD hardware.

We will be notifying all users when the package is
ready for release.

PAM 6 - Getting Closer!

The final testing of PAM 6 is nearing completion and
there are a few more enhancements to be included
before we release the update. We did not want to release
the update during the busy seeding period without
thorough testing by a number of very helpful clients.
There have been some major enhancements added that
have been in the Enterprise Version for some time.

To give you some idea of what is coming with the
