• PAM Ausvit - Fairport and the CRC for Viticulture have signed a joint venture agreement which will see Fairport incorporating the features of the CRC’s “Ausvit” software into our PAM Ultracrop (Viticulture Specific) to create the new “PAM Ausvit” software.   Roger’s Ramblings

These past 3 months have been very similar to the same period last year. That is … it has been all “heads down” and hard work at the office.
Our consulting and contracting department has been very busy with our ongoing work for Australian Agricultural Company (AACo) and some for Hardy Wines and Pacific Seeds.
We are getting close to finishing several projects… like the PAM-Phoenix integration, a project called SID which interfaces with Farmscan spray rate controllers and our PAM Enterprise project for enterprise level customers.
With these developments and the PAM Ausvit joint venture we are looking forward to some exciting prospects in 2004.

PAM UltraCrop
Serve- Ag Pty Ltd

Another calendar year has come around fast, with most Horticultural producers well and truly hitting the busy part of the production season.
2003 has seen PAM UltraCrop further entrench itself as a leading management software system in Australian Viticulture. Suited to both corporate and private viticulture, PAM UltraCrop has increased its market penetration in all key viticultural areas from Tasmania to Margaret River. A recent coup by the team at Fairport Technologies will see PAM UltraCrop for Viticulture and AusVit combine early in 2004. The new product, PAM AusVit will include the best features of both products, tailored for Australian Viticulture. Stay tunned for further information.
Serve-Ag’s PAM UltraCrop Support Service has expanded considerably this year with membership base more than doubling. Regional PAM UltraCrop workshops in Tas & Vic are already being planned ‘post harvest’ in 2004. PAM UltraCrop users who would like to get in early should register their interest will Tim Woolley, twoolley@serve-ag.com.au
The last 12 months have also seen a great amount of interest in PocketPAM. Having the ability to record production information “in-the-field” and then easily download information into PAM has seen Tasmanian farmers view this technology as way to solve the problem of data capture. Serve-Ag can also assist with advice on what type of PDA / Palm Computer would best suit your requirements.
Merry Christmas to all PAM UltraCrop users, and all at Serve-Ag wish you all the best with the 2003 / 2004 harvest.

Farmtek Australia

The weather was against us at the Paskerville (SA) field days in late September but it was welcomed by all and despite the conditions it was great to catch up with so many PAM users.
We where also inundated with interest at the Henty (NSW) Field Days where Ag-Bis and I had a stand.
The response to our online training request has been great. I have spent most of the last 3 months travelling throughout Victoria visiting many PAM users.
Now is the time in Victoria to take the opportunity for some one-on-one training. The Training request is still on-line at www.farmtek.com.au.
With Harvest now in full swing I am looking forward to being able to work with more PAM clients in utilizing their harvest data with FarmStar.
We have begun our Christmas promotion on PocketPAM with Palm’s and IPAQ’s … a great way to keep your PAM data up to date out in the field. We will be at the Wimmera Field Days (VIC) next year in March with Drenko Business Support. The pavilion is air-conditioned so you are welcome you to use the time to get out of the heat. Best wishes to all over the festive season and I hope to meet with you soon. From – Joanne. www.farmtek.com.au

Drenko Business Support
Horsham Victoria

With the harvest now into full swing in the Mallee and the Wimmera, it will be a very busy time for all growers over the coming weeks. Early reports are suggesting that yields will be at least average or above in most areas, which is a dramatic turnaround from the disappointment of last season. On the downside, we have seen commodity prices easing, due to the strength of the Aussie dollar, which is starting to take a bit of the cream off the cake.
Quite a number of growers have expressed interest in getting their PAM data files 'geared up' so that they can get the most out of the program for next season. With this in mind, we have been starting to allocate some one-on-one visits with growers after the harvest period, to ensure that their data files are configured and set up properly, and to also receive some refresher training, on various functions within PAM. If you are in a similar position, please feel free to call and arrange a suitable time to catch up in the New Year.
With the new office now up and running in Horsham, you are more than welcome to drop in for a chat, and discuss any issues that you may be having with PAM. Computers have now been acquired, and with a fully furbished training room now available, we hope to be able to launch some classroom training in the new year, which will cover all functions within PAM. Course details and dates will be advised closer to the time.
We will also be in attendance at Wimmera Machinery Field Days on March 2, 3 & 4, so feel free to call in to the 'air-conditioned' Allan Heard Pavilion and have a chat. Joanne will be in attendance, so it will be a good opportunity catch up and discuss any issues that you have. Who knows, we might even be able to find you a cool drink!
We wish all the best for Christmas and New Year, and hope that all of your yields exceed your expectations, and that your yield maps show plenty of purple areas!

Booth Technology (WA)

Booth Technology has been running advanced PAM QA workshops and seminars over the last few months. Clients that attended them commented how much more they will be able to utilize the program now. Another series of training courses will be run in April 2004; of course we can do training on farm or in our office whenever you want.
Stephen Jasper our Northern Area Manager is up to speed with PAM and is doing regular runs to Geraldton and back. So he can call and see you on farm when you need help. Chris Long our Southern Area Manager is also available for on farm visits too.
We have also been busy supplying card readers, gps units and data cards for clients getting into yield monitoring. If you are just starting out in with this technology we can show you how to handle the information in PAM Mapping and PAM Farmstar. We can even do your data processing and give it back to you PAM-ready!
We have some clients wanting us enter of old records to build up their historical data. If you are in the same situation with lots of paper records that you would love in PAM, we can enter it for you. We also have GPS units to log your farm for PAM Mapping if required.
From all at Booth Technology – Merry Christmas and all the best for 2004. www.boothtech.com.au

Agbis (NSW & QLD)

It is hard to believe that 2003 is nearly over – time flies when you’re having fun.
With plenty of developments being released by Fairport, it has been a busy year for the Agbis team. There has been plenty of training, support and promotion of the Fairport range.
We would like to thank our agent’s network for their continued support and efforts in 2003.
Special mention must be made of Greg Baker’s (Agbis Dubbo) big year assisting Agbis and our clients. Greg has travelled far and wide providing individual training and support plus group training. Greg’s attention to detail and willingness “to go the extra mile” make him a valuable member of our team.
Sarah Hall has returned to Agbis as our Queensland Sales Manager and will following up with all those people who have shown interest in the Fairport range including PAM QA Plus. Sarah will be more than happy to assist with your questions and requirements regarding farm management software.
Sadly, Jacqui Tinkler has decided call it a day with Agbis and fully commit herself to Stephen (her husband) and their property at Bollon. We would like to thank Jacqui and wish her all the best in the future.
Chris Thannhauser (Agbis Goondiwindi) has provided valuable support to our clients in Southern Qld and Northern NSW.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to Graham Spackman, Ed Windley (Graham Spackman & Associates), Anthony Wallis (Horizon Rural Management) and Glenn Milne (Horizon Rural Management) for their valuable support again this year.
A special mention must be made of Rose Meehan (Agbis Armidale) for her valuable assistance at our head office. Rose has been responsible for organising our field day sites, sending out demo kits, organising group training, Farmbis administration, promotional material and many other important tasks behind the scenes.
Recently, we launched our new website. We would like to thank to Paul Olsen at Fairport for bringing our website back to life!
Next year, we will continue to provide the very best promotion, training and support of the Fairport range. We will keep you posted regarding our training and field day attendance throughout next year.
Finally, we would like to thank all our clients for their ongoing support and wish you a Merry Christmas and Prosperous New Year with excellent rain and commodity prices. www.agbis.com

Maelroan Computers

We would firstly like to thank clients for their continued support this past year. It has been a very busy one, and we look forward to visiting many of you again in 2004. A big thank you to those of you who have referred clients on to us. This is very much appreciated.
We now have our own web page www.Maelroan.com.au. Any feedback (good and bad) would be appreciated. Our designer has endeavoured to make it quick to load, even on slow access lines.
I start work again on 5th January, here at home. Then on 12th January we head off for about 5 weeks “on the road”. We are then home for a couple of weeks, and then head off to Woolorama. I believe our site is to be 4, on the oval. Do call in and say hello.
There are not many spare days in February calendar, so if you are looking to make a training booking, it would be advisable to do so sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment. It is better to have to cancel, rather than miss out until the next month.
We will be on the road every month from January until April. May will depend on demand. Bookings can be made in advance for any month of the year.
Just a reminder that Farmbi$ as we know it will finish in June. Still no word on possible replacement, or even if there will be one.
We hope you have a wonderful festive season, and we all have a happy and prosperous 2004.
Cheers
Liz Alford
